Sony’s upcoming gaming console Playstation 5 or PS5 will be delayed in India due to trademark issues.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. was not able to successfully register PS5 trademark in India. Trademark for PS5 was earlier filed by Hitesh Aswani on 29/10/2019.
The current status for the trademark registered by Hitesh Aswani remains opposed. Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. filed for PS5 trademark on 6/02/2020 & PS5 logo on 28/02/2020.
Sony has been fairly strict about their trademark and would not release any of its PS5 trademark-related products in India before retrieving the rights.

Objected – When the status of the trademark in the Indian Trade Mark Registry website is shown as ‘objected’, this means that the trade mark examiner has raised an objection against the Trade mark in the examination report
Opposed – As per Indian Trade Mark Registry when thrid party (Opposition), files for exact trademark.
Registered – Registered Status is achieved when the proprietor has recieved all the rights toward its filed trademark.
Further researching by us it was also found out that the trademark for Xbox Series X was also filed by Hitesh Aswani on 04/02/2020.

Although, Microsoft was able to let gamers pre-order Xbox Series X|S and would launch in India like the rest of the world.
Sony has not given an exact date when PS5 will be released in India nor the price of the console. PS5 will be priced competitively against Xbox Series X, near about 50,000 INR.
Although, Sony would retrieve the rights for PS5 in few months. but, this makes the Playstation gamers outrageous and need to wait.
