Sony just revealed that PS5 will be sold online-only on the launch date. The launch date for select countries like the US, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea & Mexico is set for 12th November 2020 & 19th November for the rest of the world.

This comes out as a precautionary measure for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This statement makes it clear that no PS5 will be sold in-store and the people planning to camp or queue outside the stores should not. This applies to all the countries where PS5 is sold.

But, if you have already pre-ordered Playstation 5 from a physical store, your console will be ready at a given appointment. So, if your per-order appointment says you can collect PS5 on launch day – then surely you will be able to collect the console visiting the store.

This announcement comes from Playstation’s official blog and confirmed via tweet.

This decision of online-only PS5 would only apply on the launch date. So, if you have not pre-ordered or didn’t have any pre-order appointment on launch day you can visit the store after the launch day. This will not only help the stores to cope with huge PS5 demand but would also maintain safe social distancing.

If you have ordered PS5 from online retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, etc. You will receive your console on launch day (If your delivery date mentions so). You no more have to worry about the delays and large demands. We also came through Playstation fans from the UK who are eagerly awaiting for PS5 on launch day, but the UK has again gone into lockdown until Dec. 5. But, we hope people that have ordered online would receive their console.

Playstation 5 is priced $499 & $399 for disk version and digital version respectively.

Here is what Detectivegaming Recommends –

If you have already pre-ordered PS5 from the physical store, then we recommend you to call the store and ask them if your console ready or your Ps5 order will be available on launch day for pickup. If you have already received the PS5 pre-order appointment and have mentioned the date and time, then you should visit the store only at the mentioned time (you can even collect your console later).

But, if you are given a different date for picking up the console, then probably you would not be able to get it on launch day. If you have pre-ordered and did not receive any appointment then be sure to call the store and they will confirm you with all the details.
